Learning resources are any tools that help students to learn on their own. Learning resource is a facility that the institution provides which has several information sources. The purpose of learning resources is to advance the learning experience of students and teachers in the educational sector. Learning resources are developed or accumulated to achieve the following objectives:
- To develop strong connection between learning resources and methods to facilitate learning.
- To develop international trends of self-learning, taking into account individual differences.
- To help the teacher’s role to be changed into a leader and facilitator of the learning process.
- To help students with different learning styles to enrich their skills by using information provided by the learning resources.
- To develop the habit of self-learning
A committee comprising the teachers, librarian and the other members of the learning community analyzes learning and information needs, locates and uses resources to meet these needs. The students access, evaluate and use information from multiple sources in order to learn, think, create and to apply knowledge.
What the Institution does to generate learning resources?
- Individualized sessions and consultations (Mentoring)
Teacher educators dealing with different subjects provide individualized sessions and consultations to students as it is the most effective way of detecting and challenging students’ misconceptions that can provide most direct form of feedback possible. It leads to performing well in their tasks and submissions the best out of which are considered as learning resources.
- Peer-Assisted Study Sessions
This gives students the chance to meet in small groups with other students in the same course to compare notes, discuss concepts and develop academic skills for ongoing learning and success. The students are in an informal environment where they can ask questions and gain strategies for learning and revising course material that they have prepared to be used as learning resources.
- Test-taking skills instruction
Teacher educators employ different strategies in their classrooms to encourage students to become more test-savvy. Thereby they provide with certain set of questions to stretch students’ thinking and go beyond the material previously taught and answer the questions efficiently as per the expectations. The best answers are then compiled to be kept in the library for next batches.
- Technology skills instruction
Institution is moving at a fast speed in the area of the educational technology. A variety of tools like emails, videos, usage of smart boards, online learning modes are freely available for students in the form of Apps and Software to self-learn and to strive for excellence in their work. These skills are not only practiced but also effectively passed onto the students in the form of learning resources worth preserving for upcoming students. Training in software that can help in creating learning resources for their practice teaching is provided on a regular basis.
The learning resources in the form of their submissions, task plans, tests, open book assignments etc. are scrutinized and the best ones are preserved in the library as reference material for the coming batches.
